Description:

Eltrombopag 50mg is an orally administered drug applied in raising the count of platelets in patients with certain blood related diseases. It works particularly well on those that have chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), chronic Hepatitis C or severe aplastic anemia. The drug is called platelet mimetic and acts like a natural hormone known as thrombopoietin that increases the production of more platelets by the bone marrow- becoming less prone to bleeding and bruising.

Uses:

Therapy of adult and child chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) that has not responded favorably to forms of treatment like corticosteroids or splenectomy.

Treatment of thrombocytopenia (low platelets) in chronic Hepatitis C patients, so as to allow them to receive and continue interferon-based treatment.

Therapeutic intervention of severe aplastic anemia in other therapy-resistant patients.

Dosage:

Under a health care professional. Normally used once a day.

Is to be consumed with an empty stomach, either1-2 hrs before, or 4 hrs after meals or taking of mineral supplements (eg. calcium, iron, magnesium, aluminum).

Precautions:

Prescription required.

During the treatment process, frequent testing of the blood count and liver functioning is necessary.

Tell your physician about other medicine and supplements.

Storage:

Manufacture in a dry location at less than 30o C.

Do not expose to light or moisture.

Do not give to children.
